Barbara DeMarco-Barrett is the author of the writing guide Pen on Fire (Harcourt Mifflin Harcourt), which won the Outstanding Book Award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors.  She has published short fiction in USA Noir: Best of the Akashic Noir Series, The Big Click and Radius. Her essays and articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Orange Coast Magazine, Poets and Writers magazine, Writer’s Digest, the Toronto Sun, and The Writer magazine, and anthologized in Knitting Through It and The ASJA Guide to Freelance Writing. She also hosts and produces the radio show Writers on Writing. She has taught at the University of California, Irvine.
