Art is an expression of creativity. From painting and drawing to photography and welding, there are dozens of styles, mediums, and techniques you can use to express yourself through art. Taking an art class is one of the best ways for individuals to learn art skills. Art classes will guide the students through a thought-provoking process and teach new art skills at their own pace.
Art provides a unique outlet to express yourself through different forms. It can be a relaxing and rewarding hobby, a productive way to spend your free time or connect with people with similar interests. Some people use art frequently as part of their careers, and others use their art skills to open art shops, galleries, and classes.
Regardless of whether you want to learn art as a hobby or as a career path, taking an art class is a great first step. You can find dozens of art classes in Los Angeles, including painting, drawing, and knitting classes.
In-person art classes in Los Angeles are the best way to learn art. They provide individualized instruction and a way to personally connect with others in your area who are interested in the same type of art. There are dozens of in-person art classes in LA that you can browse throughout the year. Most classes provide all of the materials that you need.
For example, a popular in-person art class is Paint + Sip: Crashing Waves at Brushstrokes + Beverages. The course takes place on April 20th and lasts for two hours. The class provides all materials, but you’re welcome to bring your own food and beverages to enjoy while you learn to paint. The course aims to provide a fun and enriching atmosphere while you pick up a new hobby.
You can also take a Soap Making (Cold Process Method) class on July 22nd for $79. The class is open to everyone, from beginners to expert learners, and fosters a learning atmosphere while the students learn how to make and design their own soap. You will find all the needed materials in the studio, but there is a $35 materials fee.
Those interested in photography can take the Master Your Digital Camera Controls course. The class costs $81 and lasts for an hour and a half. Students will learn how to use their cameras and take professional photographs. There are classes available in May, June, July, and August.
The Paint Anything class through Santa Monica College costs $118 and meets four times, starting April 29th. You can learn to paint with oil paints, acrylics, watercolor, or gouache, and the teacher will be ready to support you on your painting journey. The class also supports mixed mediums and will show you how to use liquid masking fluid, spray paint, enamel, and collage to add more depth to your art.
Los Angeles is well-known for its artists; hundreds of art classes are available year-round. In addition to the classes already mentioned, CourseHorse offers several sewing, drawing, and flower arranging classes. Browse through LA’s long list of courses, and you’ll also find unique opportunities like a Fizzy Bath Bombs class and a Mosaic Madness class.
Virtual classes are a great option for those who can’t travel or prefer taking classes in the comfort of their home. When taking online art classes, you may also have more options since you’re not limited to the classes in your area. For example, you can live in LA and take an art class hosted in NYC. However, the downside of online classes is that you often have to supply your own materials.
Some online art classes will provide the materials. For example, you can take a Preserved Flower Arranging class and have your flowers and vase shipped to your home before the class’s meeting date. The class meets April 19th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm ET and costs just $77.
If you don’t mind buying your own supplies, the Virtual Candle Making Workshop is a great option at just $25 for one class session. The teacher will guide the students through the process of making candles, mixing and choosing scents, and share tips and hacks. It meets on May 7th for a one-hour class.
Courses like the Botanical Drawing class only need a pencil and paper. The class meets for six sessions and costs $275. You’ll learn how to draw plants, flowers, and vegetables while capturing the realistic likeness on paper. This class starts on April 21st.
