As trends in media industries shift, more people are feeling empowered by their phones as tools for personal and communal storytelling. With a background in journalism, the instructor of this class will emphasize taking compelling photos that not only look aesthetically pleasing, but that tell a meaningful story. This class will cover an introduction to photo storytelling focusing on composition, angles, and framing, along with a variety of stylistic choices.
Young creatives will practice taking portraits of people in their lives, the natural world around them, and wherever they spend time: home, neighborhood, school, etc. By the end of the class, students will hopefully have the start of a growing photography portfolio.
Note: This class will not cover digital photo editing (usage of filters, photoshop, photo editing apps, etc.)
