Join our photo lessons at Sausalito, which is one of the excellent locales in the rotation of many San Francisco venues that offer terrific photo opportunities.
Destination photography is a favorite genre for most photographers. You are lucky enough to travel to some far-off land, and you want your photos to convey everything you experience: the story of the amazing people you met, the smells of the gorgeous food, the true majesty of every sunset and historical monument.
We’ll learn to constantly think about the mood we’re setting, and trying to create a consistent feel throughout our ‘travel diary’ – do you want to express that Sausalito is quiet and rainy by giving your photos a blue and green hue? do you want to re-create the vibrance of India by focusing on the chaos in the streets and saturated colors?
We’ll walk around to get a feel for the place, and then talk briefly about what each person hopes to communicate through the imagery they’ll create. Then we’ll have a critique of the images created.
The meeting spot in Sausalito is by the elephants at Sausalito Vina del Mar Park. It’s right on the main street in town and next to the ferry landing.
Each Composition in the Field class begins with a talk with one of our experienced instructors, and then you and your fellow students take a stroll through one of a variety of photogenic locales (in any of the 20+ cities the DPA encapsulates). There is street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, landscapes, and more, photos of which are included within. These photos are a mix of student and instructor images in many different venues and cities across the United States and Canada.
You will have fun in the three-hour session, learn to shoot strategically, get more interesting photos of the event, and walk away with a foundation to improve your photographs in the future, whether you’re traveling, or at a birthday party and everywhere in between.
Please note – if a class must be canceled due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control we will be happy to work with you to reschedule. If you should need to cancel and require a new class date, contact us. A $25 transfer fee will be imposed without a 3-day notice before the scheduled class.
