Meki Blackwell

Teaches at Oceanside Dance Academy

Meki Blackwell performed with Ballet Pacifica and the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago before earning her B.A. in Dance at UCI.   She is a dance specialist in Pilates (BASI) and she is currently pursuing her MFA in Dance with research topics in movement efficiency and kinematics.  Meki is rehearsal assistant to modern dance legend Donald McKayle and his company, Etude Ensemble.  She enjoys choreographing full length works that are centered on philosophical themes as well as helping dance technicians achieve freedom and “pure” movement.  Meki is especially delighted to be an instructor to the students at Dance Unlimited because of their fervor, teachability and insatiable interest in the art of dance and the moving body. This is her 4th year with the studio!
