Guta Hedewig has studied the teachings of Krishnamacharya with TKV Desikachar at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM.org) in Chennai, where she has completed advanced yoga courses and studied privately. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher in the Krishnamacharya Tradition, having completed a 4 year long Yoga Therapy Training, including two on-site internships at the KYM. She also learned Vedic Chanting at the affiliated Vedavani (Vedic Chanting School) and continues her studies with her mentor, Sonia Nelson (vedicchantcenter.org). Additionally, Guta has studied Ashtanga in Mysore with K. Pattabhi Jois and with V. Sheshadri for many years. Guta is a Yoga Alliance registered E-RYT 500 and has directed 20 Yoga Teacher Training Programs (200, 500 and 700 hrs). Her specialization is to introduce students to Traditional Yoga Teachings in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya, and his son TKV Desikachar, who she has studied with for many years. She works therapeutically one-on-one, creating individualized practices for students to enhance health and well-being. She also leads regular workshops in Vedic Chanting. Guta endeavors to create an atmosphere of the committed, in-depth study of yoga in all its aspects, based in the tradition of Krishnamacharya’s teachings. Additionally, Guta is a certified Shiatsu practitioner, and she was the Artistic Director of her critically acclaimed NYC based dance company from 1992-2008.
