Kathryn S. Struthers & Sandra Kleinman

Kathryn S. Struthers, Ph.D., is a teacher educator working in New York City. Her research and teaching focus primarily on preparing teachers to teach literacy in urban, high-needs schools. She is also currently working on a project examining teachers’ uptake of the Common Core State Standards in a dual immersion bilingual school. Kathryn has a B.A. from Columbia University, an M.S.Ed. and Ed.M. from Bank Street College of Education, and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. 

Sandra Kleinman, EdD, is currently an Associate Professor of Education and Director of Teacher Education in Atlanta, GA. Previously she was the Head of School at The Howard School, a K-12 school for children with learning variability; prior to that, she was the senior literacy and language specialist on the transdisciplinary diagnostic team at The Children’s Hospital, Boston, MA. She has published in the areas of language, literacy and learning, and consulted with schools and non-profits, including the PBS Reading and Language. Dr. Kleinman has an EdD in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, an EdM in Reading, Language and Learning Differences from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, a MEd in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University, and a BA in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the State University of New York at Albany.
