What are some of your most popular classes that you offer on CourseHorse?
The Beginners Open Studio is our most popular class.
How long have you been in business? Can you share a bit about your history?
The School was founded by me (Eileen Johnson) in 2003 to highlight the talent and artistry of some of the world's best florists. Over the years, we have had many graduates start their own businesses.
What is your average class size?
Our average class size is around 10 students—sometimes more, sometimes less.
What is your typical student like? What are their goals?
Our students are typically interested in learning how to work with flowers. Often they come to us after having beautiful flowers at their wedding and would like to learn more.
Can you recommend activities to do in the neighborhood before or after class?
We are located near the High Line, The Whitney Museum, The Rubin Museum, and countless popular restaurants in the Meatpacking District.
I was a bit disappointed as the class stated open studio so I thought there would be an option to learn about hand-tied bouquets since the picture associated with the class description was a bouquet. Instead we created a follow along compact centerpiece arrangement. Overall learned some new tips and it was great working with fresh flowers, just wish it had been more clear on what I was signing up for.
We loved this class so much! We had a wonderful time.
It was a good class and I learned a little bit about the flowers they decided to teach that day. I thought the teacher could be a little bit more hands-on and give you some tips while you’re working with the flowers. This class is more of a learn about how to flower arena and then make your own based on what you saw it’s not really an introduction to being a florist or things you should know on how to conditioner prepare flowers
Had so much fun and learned a ton!! Definitely would do again.
A pleasant atmosphere, a very knowledgeable instructor and how much fun it is to simply play with flowers.
There was no content taught. It was similar to a paint night in the sense it was follow and proceed. Of course beautiful arrangements were made but that was done without guidance for future endeavors. I’ve been working with Flowers for a little while now and I left with no new information on what creates a good arrangement or about maintenance of a good arrangement etc. I apologize for the negative feedback. The boutique used a beautiful array of flowers and I appreciate that.
Loved the class but wish it wasn’t so expensive.
I really enjoyed this class! The space and flowers were beautiful. The instructor was very informative and experienced and taught us many professional florist techniques that really helped me understand the way a flower arrangement is designed and assembled and they played nice music. The Flower School provided a profusion of beautiful blooms and greens and by the end of the class every student had a gorgeous arrangement in a elegant glass vase. They even packed up our flowers safely and beautifully for us to take home. I was the envy of the L train. I am still enjoying my bountiful bouquet and will definitely be back for another class. My only wish is that there had been a printed handout with the names of the flowers we used and some of the techniques the instructor taught us, like blowing into roses to help them open.
Loved this class! Instructors were very welcoming and helpful. Learned some great tips for flower arranging and would like to return and take additional classes with them.
Good intro for learning how to make a specific flower design. Was disappointed by the cost, expected to gain more general (overview of) flower arranging basics. This class was focused exclusively on creating one specific elaborate flower design so the learning wasn't really generalizable for everyday life/ creative arranging.
