Wennie’s a great teacher! She very clearly demonstrates the technique students will use in their paintings.

You basically pay just for renting a workbench. There is no teaching of wax carving. It's just an open studio where everyone works on their project and sometimes the "teacher" looks at your piece and helps you, if he's not lingering in the hallways.
There was no introduction or guidance, no explanation of the tools that we had to buy. For me it was a waste of time and money. I did not learn anything.

Did not find this class useful at all.
The teacher did not go over any basic painting techniques. Instead she would consistently show up late for class and come unprepared. Save your money and watch a YouTube class on basic painting techniques. That's what I'm doing since nothing was taught in this class

Best class ever!!! Ms. Laber was a wonderful teacher! She taught us so much over our week together. Her dedication to all of us went above and beyond. She cares deeply about her students and her subject matter. I learned more than I even expected from the class and now feel comfortable trying to continue working on metals on my own. Can’t say enough great things about Ms. Laber and this class! Loved it so much! I would take any class with her that she offers. I would take this class again if I could.

This was an awesome course. It was fun, relaxing and a great learning experience. And you leave with a wonderful work of art. Time flew by but was exactly the right amount to take the time to concentrate on your work while enjoying the process of creativity. Loved it.

Eva Nikolova was great and walked us through the fundamentals fabulously and gave us the tools we needed to keep practicing and getting better on our own! Felt like I went from knowing nothing to having a solid foundational understanding of things

I am always happy with class at the Y.
This was particularly rewarding because, very small , 5 students.
I learned a lot about color & was encouraged to develop shades of various colors from the primary colors & then learned about all the color pencils & how to apply them. Ie. The old masters pallet.
We had demos. To demonstrate
Application of color to portraits .
Also worked on portraits.
As usual we had an excellent model & one can’t do a good portrait without a good model.
Nancy J. is a hands on teacher who try’s to give you space to develop style BUT ( you better get those measurements correct)
All done with patience from a teacher who has tremendous talent.
Love workshops !
Would like more of them.
Would also like pay for the day !
I can’t always be in NY . But would love to attend a class when there.

Teacher was a no show. Waited almost an hour before someone came and told us they didn’t know where the teacher was and cancelled the class. Very disappointed and have not heard yet if it will be rescheduled or refunded.
