What makes a good puzzle game, and why? How do I make one and make it GOOD? Let's approach the art and science of puzzle game design through the unstoppably cool lens of human cognition. By framing the ways our brains solve problems, we’ll get a clear look into the fundamental components and strategies for designing unique, flow-inducing puzzles.
There are SO many different properties of puzzle games, and we all have our preferences for which properties we like to play and design (e.g. Sudoku vs. Portal). What are these toolsets, which provide the richest experience, and how do we make it easier to design with them? This class is for anyone interested in understanding the meat inside the puzzle-game animal. Which is a pegasus.
