Refund Policy

Students MUST submit a detailed written request to withdraw from a course, which CourseHorse will then forward on to the school. The request must state the reason of cancellation.

Refunds or credits are available: Full refund or credit if request to withdraw is made 3 business days before the first class session. 50% refund or credit if request to withdraw is made before the second class session. After the second class session no refunds or credits will be granted.

No refunds or credits will be issued for classes that meet four sessions or fewer. Classes include seminars, intensives and workshops.

All refunds will have a $25 processing fee deducted from the course refund as well as a $20 registration fee ($45 total).

When Baruch College cancels a course, refunds are made automatically. If for any reason the department cancels a session, then a make-up session will be offered.

COURSE WITHDRAWALS

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must notify the CAPS Office in writing. Failure to complete a course, ceasing to attend class, notifying the instructor of your desire to withdraw, or general dissatisfaction with a course does not constitute a withdrawal and does not entitle you to a refund. Instructors are not permitted OR able to process withdrawals, transfers or refunds.

MAKE-UP POLICY

If a student misses a session, the department unfortunately does not authorize the student to make up that missed session in another section. If the instructor informs the student to visit another section of his class, then that is between the student and the instructor.

Great teacher and teaching assistant for a comfortable and safe learning environment. After 8 weeks I now feel confident to swim freestyle, tread water in the deep end and learn other strokes with more practice at city pools. The water is cold to keep it at competition levels and a long sleeve rashguard is advised. Use the bigger, cleaner locker rooms on level B1.

Instructor made it seems so simple and was able to get it within two sessions. Already recommended friends and two already booked for January classes.

Loved it! Knew only the very basics of swimming but was doing Freestyle & Backstroke across the pool length by the last class. The original instructor was out for a few of the 1st classes, she teaches cross training as well but the assistant(?) Mario was awesome. When the instructor came back she focused her attention to the beginners that still needed help with previous lessons & Mario focused on those who progressed a bit faster so everyone in the class could advance at their own pace which was pretty cool. So 5 stars for the class. However be warned as in previous posts that the women locker rooms are pretty gross - puddles of water & wads of hair on the floor - wear flip flops at all times. If you can overlook that then you are in for a really fun class.

Pretty cool class for the price. Met cool people. The Baruch facilities are pretty messy- don't plan to shower there. Also, our instructor switched half way through the class so felt like we didn't get consistent instruction, but I still learned a lot.

Pros 1. The class is well suited for people with no or minimal experience in swimming. The instructor starts off the class at the basic level and then slowly extends to the strokes. Cons 1. The locker rooms are a bit crowded, but generally pretty ok.

Great class! Only downside is the pool was always freezing cold!!!

Unfortunately, this class was a disappointment for many reasons. First, considering the size of the pool area we were assigned to, there were too many people in the class. This made it difficult to get through the exercises quickly. Second, the pool and pool area was always almost unbearably cold and the locker room facilities were terrible. The locker room was dirty, had limited showers (and one was usually broken), had a floor that was basically a puddle of water, and was crowded by the most loud and obnoxious highschool/middle school girls I've ever encountered. I actually dreaded going to class every week because I would always leave wet and freezing cold (couldn't get dry in the locker room). I stopped after class 5 or 6 because it was just so miserable to go every week. Even after I emailed the school about the cold pool temperatures and the AC blasting in the pool area, it seemed warmer for 1 week then went back to miserably cold. Further, the instructor wasn't hands on at all and barely got into the pool during class. Would not recommend.

The locker rooms are filthy and overcrowded with many broken lockers. The class group is over crowded so if you are not learning on the same pace as other students you get left behind. I stopped going..

Can I join the class although I will miss the first class?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Sheena! As per the coordinator of the program, it's okay for the student to register as long as they are fully aware that they missed the first session and will probably have to work on catching up and the published refund policy will be in effect. Hope this helps.
