Embroidery has a variety of applications, from customizing clothes to creating your own artwork.
This class will take you through eight different stitches considered essential to the art of embroidery. With knots, edging, and basics, you will leave with a finished sampler of all you learned in class as well as the tools to continue further. This class will be taught via Zoom and, in addition to learning the basic stitches, I will discuss with students how to apply these techniques to their wardrobe while home.
Class Materials: 6” wood embroidery hoop, a variety of DMC embroidery floss, size 24 chenille embroidery needles preferred, water soluble tracing pen, cotton or muslin fabric.
In-person class includes all materials.

In the event that some or all of the meetings of the program cannot happen in person, programs will be held at the scheduled time in a virtual format via a video conferencing platform. The programs will continue through hands-on, at-home activities, lectures, presentations, and/or group discussions. No refunds will be issued should any portion of a course be held virtually.
We are not responsible for providing makeup classes or issuing refunds for programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control.
There are no refunds for outings, classes or workshops that meet fewer than three times per semester.

Refunds are computed from the date written notice is received. To receive a refund, you must enclose the original of your confirmation letter.
Please allow three to four weeks for processing of your refund request.
Processing fees, membership fees, auditions fees and class or exercise cards are not refundable. No cash refunds.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
Students have mixed reviews about the Embroidery: Sashiko Mending class at the 92nd Street Y. While some appreciated the venue and expressed interest in taking future courses at the Y, they were disappointed with the teacher's lack of attentiveness and poor instruction. Students felt that the teacher spent a significant amount of time on her phone and did not provide adequate support or assistance to the students. One student mentioned, "The teacher wasn't very good at giving instructions or helping us. I wouldn't take a course with her again."
