What you'll learn in this lighting class:

The proper use of lighting equipment can make the difference between an amateur production and a professional one. See demos of 3-point lighting and other basic setups, and get introduced to how cinematographers and gaffers use light to tell a visual story. This essential workshop covers electrical safety, on-set vocabulary, and principles of light, and will feature examples of different setups and lighting effects. 

There will be an independent exercise assigned between sessions of this workshop.

Materials: 

All you need to bring is yourself! We provide all equipment and are committed to a 2:1 student to camera ratio. Personal equipment is not permitted.

The price of workshop includes a one year DCTV Membership giving you access to equipment rentals, post production facilities, and discounts on workshops and events.


Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Cancellations made 3 or more days in advance will receive a full credit for a rescheduled date with this provider

If you register for a workshop and are unable to attend, we can offer the following compensation:


If your cancellation is confirmed by DCTV:

* at least 5 full business days prior to workshopʼs start date - You can receive 

Full Refund

* at least 2 full business days prior to workshopʼs start date - Full Credit (valid for 3 months) or a 50% Refund

* less than 2 business days prior to workshopʼs start date - No compensation

  

No compensation, neither Refund nor Credit is available for cancellations less than 2 full business days prior to a workshopʼs start time or for non-attendance. For example, if you cancel your registration for a workshop that starts at 6:30pm on Monday, we must confirm your cancellation no later than 6:30pm the Thursday before. There are absolutely no make-ups allowed for any missed session(s) of a workshop. It is not possible for students to make up a missed session of their Workshop by attending an equivalent session on another day. There are no refunds for missed sessions.
