Sara Benincasa is an award-winning comedian and author of the books “Great” and “Agorafabulous!: Dispatches From My Bedroom” from William Morrow (a division of HarperCollins), a book based on her critically acclaimed solo show about panic attacks and agoraphobia. Sara has written for XOJane.com and has an advice column on Jezebel. Kirkus Reviews praised “Agorafabulous” for being “a blisteringly funny yet affecting debut memoir…Fabulously quirky and outrageous,” and Publisher’s Weekly proclaimed it “Funny and unflinchingly honest.” Buzzfeed named “Great” one of 15 YA Novels To Watch Out For This Spring, and Teen Vogue named it one of The 15 Most Exciting YA Books Coming Out This Year. Sara is currently working on her third book, “Believers,” due out from HarperTeen in summer 2015. Inspired by “Lord of the Flies,” it’s about a group of evangelical Christian teen girls from Texas who crash-land on a deserted island. Her comedy has won praise from the Chicago Tribune, CNN, The Guardian, and The New York Times, and has earned her an ECNY (Emerging Comedian of New York) Award and a Webby nomination. Flavorwire named Sara one of 25 Female Comedians Everyone Should Know. Sara has a degree in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C. She has an M.A. in Secondary School Education from Teachers College at Columbia University.
