Madeline Valentine

Teaches at Gotham Writers Workshop

Madeline Valentine wrote and illustrated the picture books I Want That Nut!, George in the Dark, and The Bad Birthday Idea, (all Knopf Books for Young Readers). She is the illustrator of many picture books including A Lullaby of Summer Things (Schwartz & Wade), Teddy’s Favorite Toy (Atheneum Books for Young Readers/Simon & Schuster), Little Red Henry (Candlewick Press), Ava and the Real Lucille (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), and Albertine’s Got Talent! (Henry Holt & Co.). Her illustrations have been included in The Picture Book Re-Imagined exhibit at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery and the anthology American Illustration (Amilus Inc.). She has taught at the Pratt Institute, and worked as an instructor and program director for the Ridgewood Kids Art Program. She holds a BFA from the Pratt Institute.
