Description
After years of creating unique ceramic art, Carole Smith
still gets a thrill every time she opens the kiln. Since then, she has been creating beautiful, fun, distinctive work that reflects her love of vivid colors, nature, and discovery.
In London, she owned and managed a lighting company called Candy's Chandies where she created and sold lights to shops all over the world.
On a business trip she met her now husband in Texas and has lived here ever since. She often refers to herself as "A Scot in Texas." The only thing that excites Carole more than witnessing the evolution of her own work is seeing others experience the same anticipation and joy.
She shares her artistic passion through teaching, where she delights in the curiosity of children as they interact with the clay and bring it to life with their own hands. Carole encourages her students to express their innate creativity while learning the processes involved in ceramics. Because each child can make art in his or her own way, the process becomes just as rewarding as the finished product.
McCheek's Mayhem is the name which Carole uses for everything she creates.
prounounced (mak-cheeks-may-hem)
definition: a prefix found in many family names of scots origin - a person of cheeky intent
- utter chaos
