Students will use various techniques to create a bezel set stone mounted on a sterling silver ring shank.
- Choosing stones for bezel setting
- Measuring bezel, sheet and wire
- Texture/embellish metal using various methods
- Soldering
- Filing, sanding and polishing
- Setting of cabochon
- Chemically oxidizing non-ferrous metals
- Using a flex shaft rotary tool
Pre-requisite: soldering experience, or one of our beginner classes (simple rings, bangles, earrings). Experience with bezel setting would be helpful.
If you are ready to expand your metalsmith knowledge and learn new techniques, this is the class for you. Our experienced metalsmith instructor will walk you through choosing stones, measuring bezels and setting your cabochon. You will learn about different ring shanks and how to attach your bezel to your custom-sized shank. You will use multiple metalsmithing tools to cut, solder, texture, and polish a beautiful piece.
All tools and materials are provided by Multiplicity Art Studio. Stones are limited to supply on hand.
Please allow up to 4 hours to complete this class.
Studio Rules:
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Long hair must be tied back at all times
- No loose clothing that could get caught in rotary tools
