Teaches at New York Botanical Garden

Fabian A. Michelangeli, Ph.D., is Assistant Curator, Institute of Systematic Botany, at The New York Botanical Garden. His research focuses on the evolution and systematics of Neotropical plants and animal-plant interactions. He is particularly interested in ant-plant symbiotic relationships, especially in those cases in which the ants nest on the plant, protecting the plant against herbivores. He is also interested in studying processes that lead to the high level of insectivory among tepui plants and the high levels of plant endemism.
